This is the second email I have received lately from Class Creator (our website sponsor) I have never heard of Secure Certificates.

"Secure Certificates.  You're probably tired of hearing about them by now!  I promise this will be the final email about them but it is extremely important.

We are sending this final reminder that on Friday. April 30th Class Creator will begin forwarding your domain name to the longer secure Class Creator web address like you see on your Admin Functions pages.  Unfortunately due to the way web browsers have evolved and after discussions with our financial and security partners, we cannot leave your domain name displaying on your web site.  The only way to avoid this is for you to have your own Secure Certificate.

I want to make very clear that you DO NOT need to purchase a Secure Certificate.  Your web site and domain will both continue to work.  We just have to forward your domain name to our domain name, which will result in your visitors no longer seeing your web address in the browser's address bar.

The down sides of this are there may be some confusion from classmates, so if you're not planning to purchase a Secure Certificate (we will not be purchasing anything!) you should inform your classmates of this change prior to April 30th.  There may also be loss of search engine rankings and findability, but we won't know fully until after we've made the change on April 30th."

Some of you may know something about Secure Certificates.  I don't and am not willing to have another yearly charge added to this website when they say we do not need to purchase the Secure Certificate.  They do recommend it.  I am notifying you of this update prior to its operation date.  I don't see it necessary when they say it is not.  It only instills confidence in our visitors using all modern web browsers.
